I love that I was then sent a video from his wife about how to clean and look after my ring and a certificate with its value for the insurance company. We went to Lewis looking for a bespoke, independent jeweller to make our wedding bands. We wanted plain gold bands, and we also wanted them to match my wife’s engagement ring, which was a family heirloom. He brought a little briefcase with samples to our appointment, which made us feel very confident about our decisions. While there, Lewis took a good look at my wife’s engagement ring, which she had inherited from her grandmother. He noted that the band was very thin (and the setting was oddly repaired, which we had done by another jeweller a few years ago), and he noted the band would eventually be unable to support the diamond on top of it (maybe in 10 years). With no pressure at all, he offered us to consider new bands for the engagement ring. My wife loved the simplicity and classic style of her grandmother's original engagement ring, and didn’t think she would find anything to her liking. But there was one in Lewis’s collection that attracted her eye — the Jessica ring — a simple gold band with a twist leading up to the setting. It was perfect — very reminiscent of her grandmother’s ring, but with a new element — a twist if you will. Again, he laid no pressure on us, because he understood we did not arrive at his doorstep with the thought of getting a new band for the engagement ring, and he gave us a very reasonable price for going ahead with all three (2 wedding bands + new band for the engagement ring). He even melted the gold of the original band and incorporated it into the new band, so the spirit of my wife’s grandmother’s ring lives on. This kind of service you can only get with a bespoke jeweller, and we cannot recommend Lewis Malka highly enough. read less
