About Lewis

The owner and founder of Lewis Malka London is in fact Lewis himself, a bespoke jewellery designer. Having been brought up in the engagement ring sector of the jewellery industry, Lewis’ niche market is bespoke engagement rings. This has placed him above and beyond most of his competitors in London and beyond.

Lewis began his glittering adventure into the jewellery world as a fresh faced 16 year old, with a 3-year apprenticeship in Hatton Garden. Part of the course involved attending the Sir John Cass School of Arts, a world-renowned London college with a reputation for jewellery design and silversmithing. In 2000 Lewis founded and set up his first business, building an incredible client base and honing his skills as a diamond mounter.

In 2005 Lewis decided to join the London Diamond Bourse and within a few years was asked to sit on the board. Being the youngest on the board, this gave Lewis an incredible insight into the unique way the diamond industry works. The fact that some of the suggestions, and of course decisions, he makes are about the future of the diamond industry, means he is a very credible person to talk to.

"A unique way of dealing with clients is to make them feel involved in every part of the process," says Lewis. This is why all his clients of bespoke engagement rings are seen by appointment only. "A lot of people have the misconception that bespoke means expensive, but to my clients, it means you get exactly what you want at a price you want to pay," he continues. "My clients get a unique opportunity to stamp their own personality on the ring of their dreams, which they will cherish forever." Lewis continues to hand make all orders for his clients and takes enormous pleasure in the bespoke jewellery he creates.

In 2014 Lewis launched his very first bespoke engagement rings collection, which incorporated thirteen classic designs that are easy to customise. "The thought process behind the designs is to allow my clients to be able to personalise the rings and add their own touch to their dream ring," says Lewis.

Lewis’ status is rising and his profile, designs and finish keep him head and shoulders above his close competitors. With an ever increasing reputation for creating unique and stunning bespoke engagement rings, and a growing high profile client base that extends across the world, this year is set to continue the upward trend and be another great and exciting one.

Lewis’ enthusiasm for his bespoke jewellery saw another first, in 2016, with the launch of his first book. It's a first-of-a-kind and simply called "The Engagement Ring". The book is written with you, the client, in mind. The purpose is to help people pick the perfect engagement ring, and get it right first time! In his research, Lewis found that 20% of women hate their engagement ring, so the aim of this book is to help people better understand the buying process and hopefully reduce that figure heavily.

Since the introduction of “The Engagement Ring”, Lewis has been invited by ITV to discuss the book in the lead up to Valentine’s Day, with Nina Hussain on London Tonight. He was also recently invited to the talkRADIO studios to discuss the diamond scams and how to avoid them with host Alexis Conran.

Lewis's book is now available on Amazon and Waterstones.

BRINGING MEN TO THEIR KNEES

In my profession I am fully aware of how the lead up to the proposal to the love of their life can be fraught with self-doubt and uncertainty for many people. Will she? Won’t she? Have you done enough? Too much? But I always say that whether you opt for something low-key and wholesome, or a flashy, romantic mega-production to rival Hollywood, there’s one thing that you absolutely must get right if the proposal is to be memorable for all the right reasons: the ring.

The statistics are frightening: one in five women hate their engagement ring. It’s clear a lot of men are in over their heads. But with a little forethought, and the exquisite designs in my range of bespoke engagement rings, I am confident that you can make the perfect proposal, with a ring your bride-to-be will accept with genuine pleasure and cherish for the rest of her life.

There are no hard and fast rules to guarantee the perfect proposal, except to follow your heart, but I guarantee your beloved has been thinking about her engagement ring since she was a little girl. So when you fall to your knees for the woman you love, you need to be sure you get it right.

There are many considerations when choosing a ring, including the setting, the stone, the fit, your bride-to-be’s personality and lifestyle, and whether she favours bold designs or more delicate styles. This is not merely a pretty accessory, it’s symbolic of your entire relationship, so in the end, if you’re confident in your choice of ring, everything else about the proposal will fall into place.

My range of bespoke engagement rings allows you to customise this all-important piece of jewellery and show her how much thought you’ve put into it. And when the memory of the proposal becomes part of your beautiful, shared history, the unique engagement ring you chose with so much care will always be part of your present – front and centre on the finger of the woman you love.
